Alaska Drug Schedules
Like many states, Alaska has its own unique set of statutes that regulate drugs. Alaska divides drugs, or controlled dangerous substances, into 6 categories referred to as “schedules.” These schedules are split according to how dangerous they are.
Schedule VIA
Considered to be the least dangerous category of drug. Marijuana is the only drug classified as schedule VIA
Schedule VA
This type of drug is slightly more dangerous than schedule VIA substances. Steroids, codeine, and some opiates are VA drugs.
Schedule IVA
This category is comprised of many drugs including barbiturates and diazepam.
Schedule IIIA
Drugs considered to be schedule IIIA include hashish, tetrahydrocannabinols, and parahexyl.
Schedule IIA
This category includes PCP, peyote, and amphetamine.
Schedule IA
This category is home to some of the most notorious drugs available, including opiate derivatives such as heroin.
